Within the framework of teaching Social Studies and Civics, there is a need to study spaces outside the classroom, bringing them into the school context and experiencing the content developed within them. Therefore, the study of parks as a space for political discussion, primarily for older adults, opens a broader perspective on the experiences, political practices, and interpretations these individuals express in their conversations and gatherings. An analysis was conducted with five older adults who frequently visit the central park in the province of Heredia, Costa Rica, as it is a meeting point for recreation and civic gatherings for those who visit. Based on the study of the media outlets they frequent, their interactions, and their needs for their presence there, the results obtained allowed us to present a proposal to the relevant authorities for the re-appropriation of this public space as a place for discussion and recreation, taking into account the ideas proposed by this population that most frequently visits it. This work responds to the current need to make older adults visible in their contexts, as well as to generate interest in public spaces as a means to foster political discussion and opinion, and thus bring teaching action into the classroom in the various spaces that comprise it.
