This research analyzes the dramatic structure and its relationship with the social reproduction of gender in the dramatic text El árbol de almendras by Luis Harold Agurto. The analysis comprises three fundamental factors. The first is based on the components of the dramatic structure. These comprise the mechanisms used by the author to delimit the text and serve as significant carriers of the discourse, among which the following stand out: space, time, characters and fable. Second, the social representation of the genre. This category should be understood as the social construction and imposition that sustains power structures, which determine the actions of social subjects in the public and private spheres, based on the designation of the sex assigned at birth. Third, the context. This factor delimits the circumstances in which the fable is represented, the text is written and the cultural product is analyzed. The three factors mentioned above are studied from the theoretical perspectives of cultural studies, semiology of dramatic text, pragmatics, critical discourse analysis and gender theories. The main findings of the research are: first, the structure does not only function as a technical support, but each dramatic component is used with a discursive purpose, since it nurtures the situations from the stereotyped characteristics of gender roles; second, the function of the gender perspective within the dramatic text makes it possible to observe that the author does not question the context or pose a counter-hegemonic position in relation to the represented society, but maintains the power roles according to gender; third, the context in which the dramatic text is created is represented in the use of violence, gender stereotypes and in the style of the dramatic text with which the author coexisted for the development of his text. VI The research opens the way in the path of cultural studies of Central American dramatic texts, since there are few literary studies carried out on Central American dramatic texts and, even more reduced, if they are analyzed from a gender perspective.
