La composición de especies en la pesca artesanal con línea de fondo en la parte externa del Golfo de Nicoya, Costa Rica

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio sobre la composición de especies y tallas en la pesca con línea de fondo en la parte externa del Golfo de Nicoya. Se utilizaron dos líneas experimentales con 5 tamaños de anzuelo marca Mustad número 4, 6, 7, 8 y 10. Los anzuelos se colocaron en serie de cinco de manera sistemática, iniciando con el anzuelo más grande (#5) hasta completar los 15 anzuelos en cada línea. Se capturaron un total de 51 especies distribuidas en 17 familias. La principal especie capturada fue el pargo mancha, Lutjanus gutattus (Lutjanidae), tanto en número como en biomasa. En la captura total, el anzuelo pequeño (#10) fue más efectivo en cuanto a número y peso capturado; sin embargo, con el anzuelo grande #6 y #7, se obtuvo un mejor rendimiento con un menor número de peces. La mayoría de las especies capturadas (61%) son comerciales y en peso aportaron el 91% de la captura total. Los rangos de longitudes capturados son muy amplios para todos los anzuelo, lo que sugiere poca selectividad en la captura, además, se encuentran muy cercanos a la longitud en la primera madurez sexual, sin embargo, el número de peces de tallas pequeñas disminuye conforme se aumenta el tamaño del anzuelo. En cuanto al manejo de la pesquería, no se recomienda disminuir el tamaño del anzuelo utilizado actualmente en la pesca comercial (#7), es necesario restringir o eliminar la comercialización e peces menores a 500gr, incluidos en la categoría comercial 0-1.

A study was carried out on the composition of species and sizes in the fishing with the bottom line in the external part of the Gulf of Nicoya. The ranges of lengths caught are very wide for all hooks, which suggests little selectivity in the catch, in addition, they are very close to the length in the first sexual maturity, however, the number of fish of small sizes decreases as hook size increases. Regarding the management of the fishery, it is not recommended to reduce the size of the hook currently used in commercial fishing (# 7), it is necessary to restrict or eliminate the commercialization of fish smaller than 500gr, included in the commercial category 0-1.
