Programa de Interpretación Ambiental Centro Biológico Las Quebradas San Isidro de Pérez Zeledón, San José, Costa Rica

Abstract

Este proyecto de graduación fue llevado a cabo para diseñar un Programa de Interpretación Ambiental para el Centro Biológico Las Quebradas, ubicado en el distrito de San Isidro del Pérez Zeledón, y administrado por la Fundación para el Desarrollo del Centro Biológico Las Quebradas (FUNDABIOL), organización comunal, sin fines de lucro, fundada en el año 1989 para detener la destrucción de la Cuenca del Río Quebradas, fuente de agua potable para más de 45,000 personas. Además de la importancia social de su Misión, el Centro contiene los macrotipos de vegetación 22 24 del tipo de bosque tropical siempreverde estacional, que de acuerdo a estudios realizados por García et al. (1996) son protegidos solamente en este Área del país, razón por la que ha sido sugerida la inclusión del Centro en una propuesta de expansión de áreas protegidas. Esta Propuesta pretende garantizara la conservación de la mayor cantidad de biodiversidad, de manera compatible con otras necesidades y actividades de cada país de la región mesoamericana (Anexo 8, pág.137). Este Programa de Interpretación considera limitaciones de recursos económicos y humanos de la Fundación y utiliza los recursos disponibles para elaborar una estrategia que ayude a educar al visitante sobre la importancia de conservar los recurso naturales de una cuenca hidrográfica. Debido a lo pequeño del área de uso permitido del Centro Biológico, según lo establece en su Zonificación, el Programa se fundamenta en una serie de propuestas complementarias que incluye actividades y desarrollo de infraestructura que permita brindar servicios y facilidades a visitantes, a la vez que se manejan recursos frágiles del área, mediante la distribución más adecuada del publico en el Área Protegida. Debido a que la Fundación es una organización en crecimiento, este Programa deberá ser evaluado y readecuado a las nuevas condiciones del Centro. Por otra parte, el objetivo de realización de un proyecto de graduación de la UNA, cual es cubrir una necesidad manifiesta y logísticos que posee, ha sido empezado a cumplirse con la creación de un primer programa de interpretación ambiental que contribuya con la administración y la gestión de los recursos.

(1996) are protected only in this area of ​​the country, which is why the inclusion of the Center in a proposal for the expansion of protected areas has been suggested. This Proposal seeks to guarantee the conservation of the greatest amount of biodiversity, in a manner compatible with other needs and activities of each country in the Mesoamerican region (Annex 8, page 137). This Interpretation Program considers financial and human resource limitations of the Foundation and uses the available resources to develop a strategy that helps educate the visitor on the importance of conserving the natural resources of a hydrographic basin. Due to the small area of ​​permitted use of the Biological Center, as established in its Zoning, the Program is based on a series of complementary proposals that includes activities and infrastructure development that allows to provide services and facilities to visitors, at the same time as Fragile resources of the area are managed through the most adequate distribution of the public in the Protected Area. Because the Foundation is a growing organization, this Program must be evaluated and readjusted to the new conditions of the Center. On the other hand, the objective of carrying out a graduation project from the UNA, which is to cover a manifest and logistical need that it has, has begun to be fulfilled with the creation of a first environmental interpretation program that contributes to the administration and the resource management.
