Estructura de la población, crecimiento y madurez sexual de la ostra perlera Pinctada mazatlanica (Hanley 1856) (Bivalvia:Pteriidae) en la isla Pan de Azúcar, Golfo de Nicoya, Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Abstract

Se determinó la estructura de la población, crecimiento, índice de condición, rendimiento y madurez gonadal de Pinctada mazatlanica (Hanley 1856), en Isla Pan de Azúcar, Golfo de Nicoya, entre setiembre de 1993 y setiembre de 1994. Las variables biométricas más apropiadas para la caracterización de la especie fueron la altura y espesor. La densidad promedio encontrada en el área de estudio fue de 2.42 ± 0.8 ind./m². El rendimiento en came promedio fue de 13.89 ± 3.70 %, con un ámbito entre 29.1 %y 14.13 %y el índice de condición promedio fue de 18.92 ± 4.4 %, con un ámbito entre 10.77% y 28.26% Durante todo el año se encuentran individuos maduros, con dos picos de desove máximo, en octubre 1993 y junio 1994. La altura y peso máximo encontrado fueron 141.60 mm y 496.30 g respectivamente. El crecimiento para la especie de acuerdo a las ecuaciones de von Bertalanffy se rige por A=139.5 [1-00-032)] para altura y Pt=445.46 [1 e 0.0831-03713 para peso. La tasas máximas de crecimiento fueron de 9.97 mm de altura/mes y de 18.57 g/mes. La relación altura-peso total indica un crecimiento de tipo isométrico y se rige por la ecuación: Pt= 5.31 x 10³ L³. La talla comercial para esta especie se establece entre 85.00 y 95.00 mm de altura, que se alcanzan a los 12 y 14 meses de edad respectivamente.

The population structure, growth, condition index, yield and gonadal maturity of Pinctada mazatlanica (Hanley 1856), on Pan de Azucar Island, Gulf of Nicoya, were determined between September 1993 and September 1994. The maximum growth rates were 9.97 mm in height / month and 18.57 g / month. The total height-weight relationship indicates an isometric type of growth and is governed by the equation: Pt = 5.31 x 10³ L³. The commercial size for this species is established between 85.00 and 95.00 mm in height, which are reached at 12 and 14 months of age respectively.
