Resumen
La presente investigación analiza el surgimiento de la Editorial Universitaria
Centroamericana (EDUCA), así como su incidencia en la edición, circulación de las
ideas y el pensamiento crítico centroamericano en la década de 1970. Además, sitúa a
EDUCA en el marco histórico de la conformación del campo editorial latinoamericano.
La importancia de este trabajo en el ámbito de los estudios latinoamericanos
radica en que las editoriales como tema de investigación en Centroamérica no han
profundizado de manera cuantiosa dado a que usualmente los análisis historiográficos
y sociológicos se enfocaban sobre los problemas políticos, económicos y sociales,
dejando de lado toda la contribución centroamericana al campo de las ideas y su
circulación.
Profundizar en la creación, visión cultural y política integracionista de la
Confederación de Universidades Centroamericanas como un antecedente necesario
para el surgimiento de EDUCA es fundamental para analizar la creación de este
proyecto editorial desde las dimensiones de la circulación de ideas y el pensamiento
latinoamericano. A partir del análisis del fondo editorial, propone una lectura de los
acontecimientos políticos centroamericanos y desentrañar las múltiples aristas del
pensamiento regional, así como de la producción artística y científica de la década.
Para el desarrollo de la investigación, se toma como base el valor simbólico y
cultural del libro y cómo este objeto es un reflejo del contexto que posibilitó la
divulgación de realidades que atravesaban los países centroamericanos en la década de
II
1970, y cómo mantuvo la intención de denuncia y construcción de una memoria
histórica.
Para ello, se desarrolló una metodología de investigación exploratoria que
partió de la reconstrucción del catálogo como corpus de análisis de la fuente, así como
de entrevistas realizadas a personas clave en la historia de EDUCA. Aunado a esto, se
buscaron documentos y actas del CSUCA, para profundizar en el análisis y determinar
hitos en la creación de la editorial. Esta investigación ha logrado identificar los
principios, dinámicas y tensiones de lo que fuera la más importante editorial
centroamericana en su momento, hito que a la fecha no ha sido superado por ninguna
iniciativa posterior.
This research analyzes the emergence of the University Publishing House Central American Conference (EDUCA), as well as its impact on the publishing, circulation of ideas and Central American critical thought in the 1970s. In addition, it places EDUCA in the historical framework of the formation of the Latin American publishing field. The importance of this work in the field of Latin American studies lies in the fact that publishers as a research topic in Central America have not deepened in a considerable way since historiographical analyses usually and sociological focused on political, economic and social problems, leaving aside all the Central American contribution to the field of ideas and its circulation. To deepen the creation, cultural vision and integrationist policy of the Confederation of Central American Universities as a necessary precedent for the emergence of EDUCA is fundamental to analyze the creation of this editorial project from the dimensions of the circulation of ideas and thought Latin American. Based on the analysis of the editorial collection, he proposes a reading of the Central American political events and unravel the multiple edges of the regional thought, as well as the artistic and scientific production of the decade.
