This research studies the undertow current threat and the way in which the physical characteristics of Espadilla Beach, together with the behavior, attitudes and knowledge of the people of the beach user community, combine to give rise to the facts that explain the probability of the occurrence of a potentially tragic event, through the analysis of the social and physical dimensions, as methodological input to the study of coastal spaces. Among the approaches, techniques and instruments used to meet the objectives, the following stand out: elaboration, application and analysis of forms (to lifeguards on the perception of risk due to rip currents), quantitative data management (derived from data collection on the intensity of rip currents in the field), understanding and systematization of the information collected in the field by OPCOS and application of an interview to the lifeguards in charge of the Espadilla Beach.
