This paper aims to share the experience related to the process of sensitization and training on human rights and the culture of peace. A process addressed to the youth group “Construyéndonos,” composed of 12 young people, aged between 12 and 20 years, from the community of Guararí de Heredia, Costa Rica. The process was led by university professors from Ciudades Culturales: UNA alianza para el futuro (Cultural Cities project: UNA, a Partnership for the Future), and by undergraduate students from the School of Psychology of the National University of Costa Rica (UNA). It was implemented from August 2017 to November 2018. The methodological strategy used is framed in the constructivist model from Community Psychology and Group Psychology; these are theoretical perspectives that respond to transforming actions of societies the same people of communities and groups perform. Pedagogical mediation is based on ludopedagogy, which provides dynamic tools to be applied in groups of young people. For the critical analysis of the systematization experience, the following three axes were defined: group perception and participation, the factors that hindered or facilitated the group participation, and the process of sensitization and the acquisition of skills for life in young people. We expect this strategy can serve as a model for future experiences developed with young people in this topic and similar ones.
