This study investigates the personal, social and academic consequences of the migration of one or both parents abroad in students attending different levels in the Pedro Pérez Zeledón school, during 2010. It is a mixed type of research. The sample is composed of 17 students from different levels of the school, as well as 17 parents or caregivers of these children, and 14 teachers of the school. It is concluded: The self-esteem of the children of I and II cycle of the school Pedro Perez Zeledon, is affected in a negative way by the absence of the father or the mother, because of the migration. The absence of the father or mother due to migration has generated in the students, insecurity at the time of carrying out different activities such as going out for a walk or going to school, generating with it, a certain sense of fear of not having the support of the father or mother. Migration has not been a factor that influences the communication that the children maintain with the migrant parent, since despite the distance, this is maintained with the person who is abroad. The migration of one or both parents abroad has not been a factor that negatively influences the interest shown by the children in the study, an opinion in which parents and teachers agree, since they stated that the children have not lost interest in the study after the migration of one of their parents. Migration does not negatively affect the level of absenteeism of students in I and II cycle. It is recommended: To encourage interaction among the children affected by the migration phenomenon, so that they can share feelings and experiences and thus reflect on this situation, it is very important that the students feel and understand that they are not the only ones.
