Estudio de casos sobre la invisibilidad profesional del intérprete de lengua de señas en Costa Rica por medio de una comparación con el entorno profesional de intérpretes de otras modalidades

Abstract

Este trabajo de graduación es una investigación monográfica sobre la situación actual del intérprete de lengua de señas (ILS) en Costa Rica en comparación con otros tipos de intérpretes. Para realizar la presente investigación se consultó la teoría existente sobre la interpretación auditiva-oral y sus técnicas simultánea y consecutiva y la modalidad de interpretación de lengua de señas. Además, se consultó teoría sobre hipoacusia y las diferencias entre lengua, lenguaje e idioma para sustentar la investigación. Para poder documentar esta realidad se procedió a entrevistar a cuatro intérpretes para registrar sus experiencias profesionales. Luego, los resultados de las entrevistas se contrastaron con la teoría referente al intérprete simultáneo y se procedió a comentar los elementos más sobresalientes resultantes de dicha comparación. Los elementos más importantes discutidos son los recursos laborales, los recursos de apoyo en la comunicación verbal y no verbal, y la invisibilidad del intérprete de lengua de señas. Se concluye que los intérpretes de lengua de señas experimentan mayores limitaciones pues no disfrutan del mismo apoyo del Estado y preparación que sus homólogos, los ILS son un gremio muy colaborador y solidario.
