The objective of this research seminar refers to analyzing the educational actions of the National University (UNA) on the Sarapiquí Campus to understand its impact on local development in the Las Horquetas district of this Hereditary canton or the Sarapiquí canton. . This initiative was born as a result of the absence of studies and the lack of knowledge that a significant part of the inhabitants express regarding the contribution of the UNA in the area. The research prototype was developed under the interpretive paradigm, with a qualitative and descriptive approach. In the field work, several techniques are implemented: semi-structured interview, in-depth interview and focus group. For this purpose, instruments were constructed that were applied to regular students, teachers, administrative staff, the community, and participants in programs, projects, and academic activities. Based on the information analyzed, one of the findings refers to the lack of knowledge of district members about the presence and actions of the UNA in this context. It is concluded that this higher education institution, in addition to offering careers for professionalization, develops proposals from the field of non-formal education, thereby promoting capabilities in the various age populations it serves, having a greater impact on socio-productive activities, entrepreneurship and in promoting culture. Furthermore, its location boosts the district's economy due to the social mobilization it generates. Although it is recognized that their actions are limited, the demand persists for them to offer other careers and to generate greater alliances with institutions and community organizations to promote local development.
