Certamen literario Brunca 2021

Abstract

No es de hoy, tampoco de ayer, ha sido sistemático el abandono, la inversión pública en la Cultura es pobre, debilitada, golpeada, humillada. Si hay que recortar algo, se hace en cultura es así de simple. No ha cambiado mucho el escenario de un año a otro, la Pandemia justifica el discurso del recorte. Arremete contra toda identidad o lo que queda de ella. Abre las posibilidades a una alienación que debilita las estructuras de nuestra sociedad y lo que nos define. El arte es la puerta a una sensibilidad que abre mentes y percepciones, que construye alternativas trasformadoras y mundos diferentes. Por eso, hay quienes le atacan no solo porque le restan importancia, sino que posiblemente le temen. Temen que el arte, la cultura, nuestra identidad, sea fuerte, robusta, irreverente y libre. En ese debate, las Universidades Públicas tienen una labor determinante, definitoria, clave, como una trinchera de resistencia, rescate y fortalecimiento de toda expresión de arte y valor cultural. Dentro de esa lógica, el Certamen Literario Brunca tiene una importancia fundamental como un estandarte contra hegemónico que constituye una oportunidad para mantener nuestras tradiciones y orígenes. Es ahí donde se vuelve fundamental su papel que no viene desde hace poco, sino que recoge sobre sus hombros ya décadas de esfuerzos, se ha reconocido las obras de muchas personas no solo de la región, sino que también del país. Además de una historia que recoge los orígenes de la literatura y los pasos que la Región Brunca ha dado en la construcción de su identidad. Los últimos cinco años el Certamen Brunca ha dado además un giro de vuelta a sus orígenes como un espacio que pretende darle voz a las personas jóvenes. Eso implica, como todo en el mundo de la literatura, algún tipo de ruido, sin embargo, vale la pena todo esfuerzo en esa línea. Esto ha logrado que el Certamen logre un espacio en el contexto literario del país desde una visión diferenciada tanto para la región como para las personas jóvenes que dan sus primeros pasos en este rumbo. Ese es y ha sido un compromiso de la Universidad Nacional, Sede Regional Brunca, ser consecuente en la importancia de preservar y plantear estos espacios que ante los contextos recientes se vuelven más que esfuerzos visionarios, sino que también un empuje de resistencia en favor del arte y la cultura. Ariel Robles Barrantes This isn’t a recent phenomenon, nor is it a new one; the neglect has been systematic. Public investment in culture is meager, weakened, battered, and humiliated. If cuts must be made, they are made in culture—it’s that simple. The situation hasn’t changed much from one year to the next; the pandemic justifies the rhetoric of budget cuts. It attacks all identity—or what remains of it. It opens the door to an alienation that weakens the structures of our society and what defines us. Art is the gateway to a sensibility that opens minds and perceptions, that builds transformative alternatives and different worlds. That is why there are those who attack it—not only because they downplay its importance, but also because they may fear it. They fear that art, culture, and our identity might be strong, robust, irreverent, and free. In this debate, public universities play a decisive, defining, and key role, serving as a bastion of resistance, preservation, and reinforcement of all forms of artistic expression and cultural value. Within this logic, the Brunca Literary Contest holds fundamental importance as a counter-hegemonic banner that offers an opportunity to preserve our traditions and origins. This is where its role becomes essential—a role that is not new, but one that has carried on its shoulders decades of effort, recognizing the works of many people not only from the region but also from across the country. It also embodies a history that traces the origins of literature and the steps the Brunca Region has taken in building its identity. Over the past five years, the Brunca Contest has also returned to its roots as a space dedicated to giving a voice to young people. This entails, as with everything in the world of literature, some degree of noise; however, every effort in this direction is well worth it. This has enabled the Contest to carve out a space within the country’s literary landscape from a distinct perspective—both for the region and for the young people taking their first steps in this direction. This has been and remains a commitment of the National University, Brunca Regional Campus: to remain steadfast in the importance of preserving and creating these spaces, which, given recent contexts, have become not only visionary endeavors but also a force of resistance in support of art and culture.
