This research focuses on analyzing the secretarial skills and soft skills of staff working in secretarial positions at the School of Professional Secretarial Studies, as well as at the Pérez Zeledón Campus and the Coto Campus of the National University. In this regard, the study seeks to identify the essential competencies and skills for the effective performance of secretarial duties, considering the impact of the digital age on work processes and the adaptation of staff to an increasingly technological and dynamic professional environment. To achieve this objective, an exhaustive literature review was conducted, which provided a solid theoretical framework on technical secretarial competencies and soft skills. The study adopted a mixed methodological approach with in-depth interviews and structured surveys applied to staff in secretarial service positions. This combination of qualitative and quantitative techniques allowed for the collection of detailed information on the perceptions, experiences, and practices of staff, facilitating a comprehensive analysis of how these technical competencies and skills influence job performance in the context of the digital age. The results obtained offer an overview geared toward strengthening training and professional development processes that allow for alignment with the demands of the modern work environment, as well as serving as a basis for future research in this area.
