Resumen
Los sistemas de alimentación en las fincas de
ganadería de leche en Costa Rica se caracterizan
por administrar los ingredientes y suplementos de las
dietas en forma separada (topping), fraccionado en
dos o tres tiempos al día. Generalmente estos
suplementos se dosifican con dispensadores que
pueden ser improvisados o aportados por
proveedores (para premezclas minerales
especialmente), sin embargo para esa práctica rara
vez se ajustan en finca las cantidades administradas
con los medidores, considerando las variaciones
normales en la densidad de los productos, lo que
implica imprecisiones y desbalances nutricionales
que pueden incrementar el riesgo de algunos
trastornos de salud en las vacas, y afectar los costos
de alimentación. El objetivo del estudio fue
cuantificar las diferencias entre las medidas teóricas
y reales de los dispensadores para la dosificación de
los principales suplementos nutricionales utilizados
en lecherías de Costa Rica tanto en altura como de
bajura
