This study examines the link between adolescent identity and attachment to parents and their relations with parental education level. The Identity Positions Scale, the Identity Exploration and Commitment Scale, and the Attachment Style Prototypes Scale were administered to a sample of 256 women and 181 men (M age = 15.34 years, SD = .98). Compared to men, more women reported their mothers as their attachment figures, engaged much more in terms of their relational and occupational identity, and expressed a clearer position of identity achievement. With respect to relational and family identity, participants with secure attachment styles presented greater commitment than those with insecure attachment. The parental education level was found to not significantly affect any of the socioemotional measures.
