We can define a workshop-style class as "one in which the teacher prepares a work guide or activity according to a specific objective, for the student to develop, progressing from simple to complex concepts. With the help of concrete materials, real-world situations, or technology, among other resources, meaningful learning is achieved." Furthermore, in agreement with Artavia (2000), a workshop class "promotes teamwork, allowing for the exchange of viewpoints and the comparison of ideas. This type of discussion not only helps students learn to express their ideas but also to provide demonstrations that support their perspectives." One of the objectives of workshops is to encourage students to discover mathematical concepts on their own (with the teacher's guidance), something difficult to achieve in a lecture-based class.
