The purpose of this book is to explain the development promoted by the Holy See and followed by the Costa Rican Catholic hierarchy in the process of Romanizing both parishioners and ordained ministers of the Catholic faith in Costa Rica between 1880 and 1936. At the same time, it aims to analyze the work carried out by the apostolic delegates sent to the region between 1908 and 1936 as part of the Romanization process, without neglecting their work in fields such as politics, diplomacy, and social affairs, which were of great interest to the Roman Curia in the new reality that had emerged after the end of the 18th century.
