Resumen
Este ensayo investiga la relevancia de fortalecer las competencias de pensamiento artístico-visual en la educación superior mediante la investigación-acción y con un enfoque específico en estudiantes de grado de artes plásticas y diseño gráfico. Se examinan las problemáticas que enfrentan las Instituciones de Educación Superior, especialmente la falta de apoyo a las capacidades de pensamiento humanista, en contraste con las demandas del mercado laboral. A través de una perspectiva docente apoyada en la investigación-acción crítica y emancipadora, así como una actitud reflexiva en la praxis, se busca mejorar la formación de alumnos en áreas visuales. Se establecen rutas de acción basadas en estudios de la historia del arte y publicidad para fortalecer las competencias de lectura visual, destacando la importancia de extraer y decodificar mensajes en un mundo saturado de información y orientado principalmente hacia una lectura superficial. El texto subraya la necesidad de una educación que priorice el pensamiento crítico y analítico a la hora de consumir y crear imágenes, promoviendo una visión humanista que contrarreste la tendencia hacia la mercantilización del conocimiento. Finalmente se establecen estrategias para formar profesionales capaces de utilizar sus habilidades de creación artística y de diseño gráfico para generar un impacto positivo en la sociedad del siglo XXI, fomentando una conciencia y una perspectiva humanista que enriquezca tanto el ámbito personal como el profesional.
This essay investigates the relevance of strengthening artistic-visual thinking competencies in higher education through action research, with a specific focus on undergraduate students. It examines the issues faced by Higher Education Institutions, particularly the lack of support for humanistic thinking skills, in contrast with the demands of the labor market. Through a teaching perspective supported by critical and emancipatory action research, as well as a reflective attitude in practice, the aim is to improve student training in visual areas. Action routes based on art history and advertising studies are established to strengthen visual reading competencies, highlighting the importance of extracting and decoding messages in a world saturated with information and primarily oriented towards superficial reading. The text underscores the need for education that prioritizes critical and analytical thinking when consuming and creating images, promoting a humanistic vision that counters the trend towards the commodification of knowledge. Finally, strategies are established to train professionals capable of using their artistic creation and graphic design skills to generate a positive impact on 21st-century society, fostering an awareness and a humanistic perspective that enriches both the personal and professional spheres.
