The externship was carried ont the Dover Veterinary Clinic, located at the city of Bogotá, Colombia. Another internship was in the “Hospital de Especies Menores y Silvestres” (HEMS), of the National University of Costa Rica. During the period between July 2nd and August 4th in Colombia, and from December 4th to December 8th in Costa Rica. During the internship of 7 weeks, a total of 298 patients were attended, including cases of both surgery and internal medicine. A total of 174 patients was submitted to the internal medicine area, 92 patients at the DVC and 82 patients at the HEMS. During the period focused on surgery, a total of 77 procedures in 3 weeks were performed at DVC, meanwhile 47 procedures in 2 weeks were performed at HEMS. Aditionally, 2 cases of special interest were developed because of their complexity, integral management, and the presentation of novel therapeutic techniques, being these of high application in the Costa Rican professional ambit. The cases are (1) an adrenalectomy, due to adrenal origin hiperadrenocorticism, and (2) a repair of cranial cruciate ligament rupture, through tibial tuberosity advancement in a canine patient.
