El viaje y los personajes femeninos en De qué manera te olvido, de Dorelia Barahona

Abstract

En el siguiente trabajo final de graduación se llevará a cabo un estudio crítico- literario del tema del viaje del héroe y los personajes femeninos en la novela De qué manera te olvido, de Dorelia Barahona. Esto se lleva a cabo a partir de las teorías del psicoanálisis (según Freud), el héroe (según Campbell), el formalismo ruso (según Propp y Greimas) y el feminismo (según Moi, Butler, Richard y De Lauretis). En cuanto a las ideas sobre la heroína en la literatura, esta se describe como un individuo común que destaca por cualidades como la fuerza, la astucia o el intelecto. Es aquella que enfrenta los obstáculos y vence sus limitaciones (como las ataduras de sus padres u otras figuras opresivas) a través de una transformación interna que la lleva a la madurez y a la adquisición de su objeto de deseo; en este caso, la realización personal, la libertad y la identidad propia. En la novela De qué manera te olvido, la figura de la heroína se ve representada en el personaje de Claudia Baltodano, la cual se caracteriza por el misterio, la fuerza y el intelecto. Además, a lo largo de su viaje, enfrenta etapas clave como la partida, en la que abandona el entorno familiar y experimenta desafíos, como la crítica. Una segunda etapa es la iniciación, en la que enfrenta una serie de obstáculos que la obligan a tener una transformación interna en la que descubre su identidad y verdadero potencial; por ejemplo, cuando se siente sola al vivir en el extranjero. Además, Claudia lleva a cabo la etapa del retorno, que representa el momento en que la protagonista regresa a su lugar de origen con conocimientos y sabiduría, como la libertad y la autoaceptación en una sociedad conservadora y patriarcal. Con respecto a la figura de la antiheroína, esta es frecuente en la literatura contemporánea y se caracteriza por ser huérfana de padre, solitaria, escéptica e irónica. Busca huir de una realidad problemática y ser libre, pero fracasa. También se muestra apática o desencantada por la vida, no tiene iniciativas propias y abandona sus proyectos con facilidad. No se autorrealiza ni tiene identidad propia, puesto que está vacía, es superficial en sus argumentos y acciones, y por lo general vive sometida al hombre, ya sea el padre o la pareja. En el texto en estudio se evidencia la figura de la antiheroína en el personaje de María Dota, puesto que no atraviesa las etapas esenciales del viaje. Además, no demuestra ninguna evolución; abandona su proyecto de vida y se somete a los deseos de su esposo. También el personaje de Leda Pizano se considera una antiheroína, ya que tampoco cumple con las fases primordiales del viaje; acepta la opresión masculina, se victimiza por su pasado, y no logra alcanzar sus metas ni la estabilidad emocional. Por consiguiente, se llega a la conclusión de que el personaje de Claudia Baltodano es la figura principal de la obra De qué manera te olvido, ya que ella representa el prototipo de mujer en la sociedad moderna, consigue atravesar las tres fases fundamentales del recorrido del héroe, defiende sus derechos en una sociedad todavía patriarcal y excluyente, y manifiesta abiertamente su sensualidad, al tomar control de su cuerpo al decidir no casarse ni tener hijos.The following final graduation project will conduct a critical literary study of the theme of the hero's journey and female characters in Dorelia Barahona's novel De qué manera te olvido (How I Forget You). This will be based on the theories of psychoanalysis (according to Freud), the hero (according to Campbell), Russian formalism (according to Propp and Greimas), and feminism (according to Moi, Butler, Richard, and De Lauretis). As for ideas about heroines in literature, they are described as ordinary individuals who stand out for qualities such as strength, cunning, or intellect. She is the one who faces obstacles and overcomes her limitations (such as the constraints of her parents or other oppressive figures) through an internal transformation that leads her to maturity and the acquisition of her object of desire; in this case, personal fulfillment, freedom, and her own identity. In the novel De qué manera te olvido (How I Forget You), the heroine is represented by the character Claudia Baltodano, who is characterized by mystery, strength, and intellect. In addition, throughout her journey, she faces key stages such as departure, in which she leaves her family environment and experiences challenges such as criticism. A second stage is initiation, in which she faces a series of obstacles that force her to undergo an internal transformation in which she discovers her identity and true potential; for example, when she feels lonely living abroad. In addition, Claudia carries out the return stage, which represents the moment when the protagonist returns to her place of origin with knowledge and wisdom, such as freedom and self-acceptance in a conservative and patriarchal society. The antiheroine is a frequent figure in contemporary literature and is characterized by being fatherless, lonely, skeptical, and ironic. She seeks to escape a problematic reality and be free, but fails. She also appears apathetic or disenchanted with life, lacks initiative, and easily abandons her projects. She does not achieve self-fulfillment or have her own identity, as she is empty, superficial in her arguments and actions, and generally lives under the control of a man, whether her father or her partner. In the text under study, the figure of the antiheroine is evident in the character of María Dota, as she does not go through the essential stages of the journey. Furthermore, she shows no evolution; she abandons her life project and submits to her husband's wishes. The character of Leda Pizano is also considered an anti-heroine, as she does not complete the essential stages of the journey either; she accepts male oppression, victimizes herself for her past, and fails to achieve her goals or emotional stability. Therefore, we can conclude that the character of Claudia Baltodano is the main figure in the play De qué manera te olvido, as she represents the prototype of women in modern society, she manages to go through the three fundamental stages of the hero's journey, defends her rights in a society that is still patriarchal and exclusionary, and openly expresses her sensuality by taking control of her body and deciding not to marry or have children.
