The National University presents the ninth public opinion survey offered by IDESPO to the Costa Rican community, which allows us to have a vision of the living conditions of the population of the Greater Metropolitan Area, both of the middle and upper classes, as well as the low-income residents of the San José Metropolitan Area. On this occasion, in addition to the aspects that are traditionally measured to assess the impact of the economic crisis on the households of the G.AAI, it was considered relevant to investigate how families will live the Christmas period and the holidays. This IDESPO survey also contains information on the characteristics of the families and of the men and women who have in their hands the future of the first decades of the 21st century. Data is provided that allows us to glimpse how important the organizations that support Costa Rican society are for the country's democracy. In addition, emphasis is placed on the challenges and expectations that the new century brings to Costa Rican homes and, above all, how they view their transition from one century to another. IDESPO welcomes comments that may enrich the information presented here and has its offices and spaces on its Web page (una.ac.cr.ide.s/) available for the exchange of opinions on the impact of the crisis on Costa Rican society.
