We conducted two investigations into the ways of doing and understanding mathematics (ethnomathematics) of two distinct cultural groups: the Argentine folk dancers' guild and the Cabécare, an indigenous people of Costa Rica. Both projects involve organizing a course for primary school teacher training that proposes the development of Ethnomathematics Microprojects. These include the identification and characterization of ethnomathematics in a cultural symbol of the selected group, and then developing contextualized teaching activities for presentation in the primary school classroom.
