Escuela científica: décimo aniversario, 1993-2003

Abstract

Los inicios de la Escuela Científica en el año 1993 marcaron un hito importante en el desarrollo educativo en la Finca Sinaí, perteneciente a la Sede Regional Brunca de la Universidad Nacional. Este proyecto nació con la visión de ofrecer una educación de calidad orientada al pensamiento crítico, la investigación y la formación integral de los estudiantes de la región sur del país. Durante sus primeros años, la escuela funcionó en instalaciones modestas dentro de la finca universitaria, aprovechando los recursos naturales del entorno como un laboratorio vivo para el aprendizaje. La cercanía con la Universidad Nacional permitió una colaboración constante con docentes y estudiantes universitarios, quienes aportaron su conocimiento científico y pedagógico al desarrollo del programa académico. Las fotografías en blanco y negro que se conservan de los primeros diez años reflejan el espíritu pionero y el entusiasmo de aquella etapa fundacional. En ellas se observa a los primeros alumnos y docentes, muchos de los cuales participaron activamente en la construcción no solo física, sino también filosófica de la institución. Estas imágenes capturan momentos de trabajo en aulas improvisadas, actividades científicas al aire libre y eventos comunitarios que fortalecieron el sentido de pertenencia y compromiso con la educación regional. En conjunto, los inicios de la Escuela Científica en 1993 representan una etapa de esfuerzo, innovación y esperanza, donde la educación se convirtió en una herramienta para transformar la realidad local y proyectar el futuro académico y social de la zona Brunca.

The founding of the Scientific School in 1993 marked a significant milestone in educational development at Finca Sinaí, part of the Brunca Regional Campus of the National University. This project was born with the vision of offering a quality education focused on critical thinking, research, and the holistic development of students in the southern region of the country. During its early years, the school operated in modest facilities within the university grounds, utilizing the surrounding natural resources as a living laboratory for learning. The proximity to the National University allowed for constant collaboration with university professors and students, who contributed their scientific and pedagogical knowledge to the development of the academic program. The black and white photographs preserved from the first ten years reflect the pioneering spirit and enthusiasm of that foundational period. They show the first students and teachers, many of whom actively participated in the construction of the institution, not only physically but also philosophically. These images capture moments of work in makeshift classrooms, outdoor scientific activities, and community events that strengthened the sense of belonging and commitment to regional education. Taken together, the beginnings of the Scientific School in 1993 represent a period of effort, innovation, and hope, where education became a tool for transforming the local reality and shaping the academic and social future of the Brunca region.
