This study is an assessment conducted at the “Joaquín García Monge” Library to demonstrate the need to create and implement an automated application that, in accordance with the library’s requirements, contains information on the fixed assets assigned to the library, such as equipment and furniture. This project is the result of the learning process outlined in the curriculum for the information technology courses offered as part of the Bachelor’s Degree in Administration at the School of Professional Secretarial Studies. As a supplement, the student completed the “Access Management” course offered by the School of Computer Science and acquired knowledge in the use of the “Microsoft SQL” database. The significance of this project lies in providing the “Joaquín García Monge” Library with an automated tool that compiles the necessary data on its fixed assets. From an administrative standpoint, this application leads to time savings, security, and reliability, as well as greater accuracy in information management. In a fast, up-to-date, and user-friendly format, this tool will provide a variety of information on fixed assets, including assigned serial numbers, location, person in charge, entry or exit, transfer, and depreciation.
