Música y Estado en Costa Rica (1845-1942)

Abstract

Se analiza la función que el Estado costarricense otorgó a la música en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX y la primera del siglo XX. La música ha asumido funciones de apoyo a ceremonias solemnes, políticas, sociales y religiosas, así comoen en actividades de diversión (conciertos, turnos, retretas, serenatas, bailes), en el teatro y en actividades como las proyecciones cinematográficas y audiciones fonográficas. La música tenía un papel funcional y se caractiza por modificar la sensibilidad y el comportamiento humano. Así como un papel de estimulante de papel patriótico.
