Abstract. “Creating Programming Capacities in Young People and Teachers” is an institutional project of the School of Informatics of the National University of Costa Rica, which presents new learning spaces. This work aims to present the experience of the project during the years 2020 and 2021, its main activities are included: knowledge and creation spaces, beneficiary participants, achievements and results of the workshops given in the project. The methodology used in the workshops is active learning, concepts such as computational thinking are applied using visual programming through tools that allow the basic concepts to be known. The following programs were used for the workshops: Scratch, Scratch Jr, Open Roberta, Tinkercad, Arduino UNO and micro:bit. The project provides strategies in which participants can develop and strengthen soft skills that will allow them to function in the educational field and later in the professional field. The problem of the low participation of female students in careers found in the technology sector and in STEM areas (for its acronym in English, acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics - Science, Technology, Engineering) is also presented. and Mathematics), for this reason, the results show their participation in the workshops. Another relevant fact of this work is the participation of 567 people in the workshops both nationally and internationally, as well as the learning they have had in programming concepts and their main results.
