El humanismo de Joaquín García Monge y su contribución al pensamiento latinoamericano

Abstract

El presente trabajo de investigación titulado “El humanismo de Joaquín García Monge y su contribución al pensamiento latinoamericano” tiene por objetivo analizar la concepción del Nuevo Humanismo en relación con el pensamiento de Joaquín García Monge (1881-1958), en ese sentido, se propone que el autor costarricense es promotor de esta concepción planteada desde la contribución de dos académicos del Centro de Estudios Generales de la Universidad Nacional. La investigación está conformada por tres apartados: en el primero se identifican las principales características del desarrollo histórico del pensamiento humanista para fundamentar la importancia del término Nuevo Humanismo y su vinculación con el aporte intelectual de Joaquín García Monge. El segundo apartado muestra la referencia historiográfica del pensamiento latinoamericano en el aporte humanista de Joaquín García Monge. Por último, en el tercer apartado se muestra que el pensamiento humanista de Joaquín García Monge puede considerarse precursor del Nuevo Humanismo, examinando las dimensiones ético-filosófico, sociocultural y cognoscitiva de su propuesta para diferenciarla de otros enfoques humanistas. Como aspecto novedoso de la investigación, cabe mencionar que la propuesta del Nuevo Humanismo en que se busca situar el pensamiento de Joaquín García Monge, corresponde al aporte de un Centro de Humanidades, por lo que se trata de una investigación con un hilo conductor contemporáneo que toma como acervo el aporte intelectual de Joaquín García Monge, con ello se busca mostrar que sus ideas corresponden a un intelectual adelantado a su tiempo, un precursor de una versión renovada de los principios humanistas tradicionales, “un nuevo humanista”. De este modo, se destaca la imagen de Joaquín García Monge como emblemática en la historia del pensamiento costarricense y latinoamericano.

The present research work entitled "The humanism of Joaquín García Monge and his contribution to Latin American thought" aims to analyze the conception of New Humanism in relation to the thought of Joaquín García Monge (1881-1958), in that sense, it is proposed that the Costa Rican author is a promoter of this conception raised from the contribution of two academics of the Center of General Studies of the National University. The research is composed of three sections: the first one identifies the main characteristics of the historical development of humanist thought to support the importance of the term New Humanism and its link with the intellectual contribution of Joaquín García Monge. The second section shows the historiographic reference of Latin American thought in the humanist contribution of Joaquín García Monge. Finally, the third section shows that the humanist thought of Joaquín García Monge can be considered a precursor of New Humanism, examining the ethical-philosophical, sociocultural and cognitive dimensions of his proposal to differentiate it from other humanist approaches. As a novel aspect of the research, it is worth mentioning that the proposal of New Humanism in which the thought of Joaquín García Monge is sought to be placed, corresponds to the contribution of a Humanities Center, so it is a research with a contemporary thread that takes as a heritage the intellectual contribution of Joaquín García Monge, thus seeking to show that his ideas correspond to an intellectual ahead of his time, a precursor of a renewed version of the traditional humanist principles, "a new humanist".
