Propuesta de un modelo de economía circular para pymes del sector hotelero costarricense

This research aims to propose a circular economy model by analyzing trends and best practices for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Costa Rican hotel sector. The specific objectives are: 1) to characterize the current context of the circular economy through the analysis of national and international regulations, legislation, and management frameworks, laying the groundwork for the implementation of a circular economy model in hotel SMEs; 2) to identify successful case studies, best practices, and assessment tools for circular economy models through the review of documentary and bibliographic sources; and 3) to propose an appropriate circular economy model tailored to SMEs in the Costa Rican hotel sector. This is a qualitative, explanatory study. The significance of this research lies in addressing the current challenge faced by hotel SMEs in Costa Rica to adopt sustainable practices and compete in a global market increasingly oriented toward circular economy principles. Implementing a suitable methodology for circular economy adoption will enhance their efficiency and competitiveness.
