Abstract. This study aims to develop digital competencies in adult students in Limón, Costa Rica, in response to the transition to virtual education caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. To achieve this purpose, the ADDIE techno-pedagogical model is used, which includes the identification of socio-contextual barriers, the creation of educational modules in Genially and their subsequent evaluation. Despite facing limitations in their technological knowledge and lacking adequate technological infrastructure, students manage to overcome these barriers and successfully access the virtual environment designed for research, thanks to the guidance and support provided through a directed workshop. This highlights the importance of offering additional support to this group of students who face particular challenges, including the digital divide, in their digital skills acquisition process. This reinforces the urgent need for educational policies aimed at promoting digital inclusion in this specific population. Finally, it contributes significantly to the understanding of the development of digital skills in adults at CINDEA Limón and highlights the value of lateral thinking as an educational tool in the digital era. Therefore, it is demonstrated how the ADDIE Model can be applied effectively to design techno-pedagogical training programs aimed at adult students, emphasizing the importance of adapting technology to learning needs and promoting accessibility and inclusion in the design of environments. virtual learning. Furthermore, there is a need to address digital gaps for technological adoption for andragogical education.
