Software development outsourcing companies face the challenge of implementing processes for efficient management of the knowledge generated. In the software industry the most important asset is the knowledge generated, often kept only in the memory of people, without being documented, running the risk of wasting this knowledge for lack of transfer process and management of this, or even get lost by disuse or staff turnover. The main objective of this research is to develop a knowledge management model for the company Edify Software Consulting that allows to take advantage of the knowledge generated in software outsourcing projects. Edify Software Consulting, a Costa Rican company founded in 2010, specializes in outsourcing software development, mainly for clients in the United States. Despite having numerous simultaneous projects, the company faces problems in the management and reuse of the knowledge generated in these projects. The lack of efficient knowledge management policies and processes results in duplication of efforts and missed opportunities to optimize and improve project efficiency. The project is of great relevance to Edify Software Consulting, as proper knowledge management can improve induction processes, reduce learning curves in the different technologies used in the organization, foster collaboration, generate environments conducive to the development of creative solutions and a culture of innovation. By properly managing knowledge, the amount of rework will be reduced by being able to take advantage of previously obtained knowledge. In addition, this research seeks to ensure that the use of knowledge generates solutions to problems within the company and in society, which can even be converted into software packages or new products. The design of this research is a mixed CUAL-CUAN type of Exploratory Sequential Design (DEXPLOS) with a derivative modality. The methodology used was design science research, complemented by people-centred Design Thinking. The activities were carried out in conjunction with collaborators of the organization, who, through collaborative ideation and design activities, were able to design a proof of concept of a specific knowledge management model for the sponsoring organization. He project concludes that efficient knowledge management is crucial to improve the productivity and competitiveness of Edify Software Consulting. It was also concluded that the proof of concept had a high acceptance by the research participants. After conducting this research, it is recommended that the sponsoring organization change the organizational culture so that new policies, processes and technologies can be implemented in a way that facilitates collaboration and knowledge sharing between project teams. In addition, it is suggested that the proposed model be continually evaluated and improved through further iterations based on the results of this research in order to ensure its long-term effectiveness.
