In order to determine differences in the germination of Cattleya skinneri seeds, caused by various culture media, in "in vitro" conditions, four media were evaluated (treatments: three of organic origin (banana, potato and carrot) and one of organic origin). synthetic formulated by Murashige and Skoog (1962) (M.S); with 20 repetitions each. The data were analyzed based on the application of an unrestricted random design, prior to a transformation of the values obtained ((√(y+0.5 )). According to the results of the statistical analyses, no significant differences were found between the media used. However, it was observed that in the medium with potato the seeds germinated and developed in less time than in the other treatments, which which leads to savings in production costs.
