Previously, the Export Chain Directorate (DEN) of the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER) had a limited resource dedicated to diagnosing and mapping the Offer of National Suppliers and had to meet the institutional goal of expanding coverage of diagnoses applied to a greater number of national companies. Therefore, the incorporation of advanced students in the International Relations career provided the necessary trained resource to expand PROCOMER's capacity to diagnose and map companies of the Directorate of Chains for Exports (DEN), thus expanding the list of national suppliers. validated with the diagnostic tool. The main objective of the development of this practice has been to assist in the need for the institution to generate greater coverage of mapped companies so that they can receive the services of the DEN. In this sense, in this professional practice, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) were diagnosed within the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM) through a diagnostic instrument prepared by several PROCOMER directorates with the purpose of measuring the level of development of companies and to be able to quantify the Costa Rican companies suitable for the chaining process. At a general level, fourteen companies were diagnosed, of which eight belong to the services sector, six to the goods sector. Likewise, it was possible to determine that the specialized industry was the main subsector diagnosed with five mapped companies. Through this directed practice, both problems were addressed. At the institutional level, the need for greater coverage of mapped companies was frightened and at the external level, that is, directly with the companies, it was possible to identify the needs for improvement of the companies to favor chaining processes through evaluations of the National Supply of Suppliers.
