The super family Psylloidea is made up of a group of small homopterans of the suborder Sternorrhyncha, which measure from one to eight millimeters in length. They are suckers of phloem sap that are characterized by the aforementioned hind legs adapted for jumping (Eastop, 1978). They are probably a group close to Aleyroidea. The siloids present a wide distribution and according to D. Hollis, about 2,500 species have been described and there are about 5,000 undescribed. However, data on larval stages only exist for a few hundred species.
