The objective of this work is to disseminate one of the first experiences of intergenerational relations initiated in Costa Rica at the end of 1999; and, at the same time, to propose that this type of experience be further developed with a view to guaranteeing active aging within a human rights framework. The project described here, with which the first steps were taken in the implementation of intergenerational activities in our country, was aimed at strengthening relationships between older adults, children, young people and adults, in order to contribute to reduce discrimination towards these people and, thus, generate the conditions for a society for all ages. The greater the longevity, the more time the different generations have to share. Hence, the objective of this project has been to strengthen the links between different generations and reduce gaps, through the creation of meeting and exchange spaces, and, through an educational process, to promote the social inclusion of older adults in a more effective way. In this way it will be possible to educate for a healthier aging, through communication bridges between generations, and to eradicate prejudices and stereotypes about old age and aging.
