genere productos ambientalmente preferibles.
Over the years, Costa Rica has performed as a country with great advances in the field of Conservation of natural resources; however, the path related to sustainable use needs to be refined of these resources, land use and the decline of the environmental impact of human activities (Program State of the Nation, 2015). In this sense, bioprospecting, understood as a responsible activity where natural resources are sought and used for the benefit of society, is useful to address this challenge. Considering the growing impact of people on the environment, makes it necessary to look for alternative ways of developments that are more friendly to nature and allow more sustainable development. Under this scenario, the concept of biorefinery, understood as an industry that uses biomass to produce chemicals, matter raw material, food and/or products that may be useful in the field of bioenergy (Zhu, 2015), could be an alternative viable that benefits our society and also that generate environmentally preferable products.
