The purpose of this research was to investigate the incidence of interpersonal and intrapersonal factors in the performance of the counselor's work. It corresponds to a qualitative approach with an educational ethnographic method. The analyzed bibliography shows that work is a fundamental part of people's satisfaction and fulfillment, because it provides the individual with well-being and a sense of self-satisfaction. Motivation is seen as a necessary element to determine the behavior of the subject to the work performed. The guidance professional has a comprehensive training that allows him/her to provide preventive help in the personal growth of each individual, since his/her vocation is suitable for this role. To achieve the purpose of the research, several techniques were used for data collection; among them are the in-depth interview, observation and the use of the MINI MULT 82 Test. The population consisted of four counselors and two directors, who correspond to the total number of people investigated. The main findings show that work is a means of subsistence that contributes to satisfy basic needs, motivation is the source that drives the subject to perform any activity. And vocation determines the spirit of service towards other people. Communication and dialogue are skills that are acquired over time and are indispensable in the balance of human relationships. While self-knowledge of one's own feelings, emotions and critical attitude towards them, is of relevant importance. The main recommendations are: that the counselor communicates his/her experiences with others, that he/she enables the students to develop values for the construction of their life project, also to work constantly in the management of the students' emotions and that the directors encourage the motivation of the counselors towards their work.
