Un maestro entregado a la “danza española y el ballet clásico”: entrevista a Cecilio Casas

Abstract

En el marco del III Encuentro Internacional Artístico Humanista 2017 celebrado en la ciudad de Heredia, San Carlos, Limón y Guanacaste en el mes de abril, se invitó al maestro de ballet argentino Cecilio Casas para que comentara las experiencias que, a lo largo de más de 40 años de vivir en nuestra tierra, ha desarrollado. Ingresó a Costa Rica en el año 1970, en una época de gran efervescencia, donde se estaba transformando el país a través del estado benefactor. El Ministerio de Cultura comenzaba a dar sus primeros pasos. Y en el campo del ballet clásico era escasa y de manera privada la presencia, solamente estaban Flor del Carmen Montalbán con su estudio y Roberto Snobaal, impartiendo danzas españolas y folclore latinoamericano. En aquella época el ballet clásico era un campo muy poco trabajado, el ímpetu de este maestro y las ganas de dedicarse a la enseñanza lo invitaron a quedarse, con la firme convicción de que se podía realizar un trabajo serio, responsable y creativo para desarrollar la disciplina que se requería para alcanzar su propósito de impartir lecciones de ballet clásico, a la mayor cantidad de personas.

In the framework of the III International Artistic Humanist Meeting 2017 held in the cities of Heredia, San Carlos, Limón and Guanacaste in April, the Argentine ballet master Cecilio Casas was invited to comment on the experiences that, over more than 40 years of living in our land, he has developed. He entered Costa Rica in 1970, at a time of great effervescence, when the country was being transformed through the welfare state. The Ministry of Culture was beginning to take its first steps. And in the field of classical ballet there was little and private presence, there was only Flor del Carmen Montalbán with her studio and Roberto Snobaal, teaching Spanish dances and Latin American folklore. At that time classical ballet was a very little worked field, the impetus of this teacher and the desire to devote himself to teaching invited him to stay, with the firm conviction that a serious, responsible and creative work could be done to develop the discipline that was required to achieve its purpose of teaching classical ballet lessons to the largest number of people.
