Abstract

Ligada a la investigación se encuentra, sin que se pueda prescindir de ella, la información. De hecho es un factor sin el cual la investigación queda realizada a medias, o no se produce del todo. La investigación, en cualquier campo o disciplina, necesita del soporte de los que investigaron previamente en el trabajo de su interes. Los investigadores necesitan, para darle un respaldo más autorizado, más científico, a su creación, de lo que otros escribieron, comunicaron o están indagando acerca de determinada hipótesis. Así pues, la información, definida como "un medio de comunicación" sin ser un fin en sí misma, es un medio indispensable para reforzar, orientar y agilizar cualquier proceso de investigación, y en muchos casos hasta para modificarlo o cambiarlo totalmente. La información cobra así una importancia inusitada en el desarrollo de las naciones, por ser el vínculo que liga y pone a la disposición del investigador o el estudioso, todo lo qu« el pensamiento del Hombre produce y ha producido a través del tiempo y la geografía mundial. Pero hay un hecho que pareciera ir en desacuerdo entre investigación e información, a pesar de su estrecho ligamen: el trabajo aislado que en forma notoria realizan los investigadores y los servicios o centros de información. Parece ilógico que en la actualidad, cuando hay posibilidad de transmitir información por los medios más comunes hasta los más sofisticados, cuando la información nos llega a través del documento tradicional, la microforma o el rayo láser, cuando las barreras geográficas las salta el satélite y las Redes internacionales, apoyadas en grandes bases de datos,,es cuando nos topamos con el aislamiento del que escribe del que produce y de los centros encargados de dar a conocer esa producción.Linked to the research is, without which it is impossible to do without it, the information. Research, in any field or discipline, needs the support of those who have previously done research in the work of interest to them. Researchers need, in order to give a more authoritative, more scientific backing to their creation, what others have written, communicated or are investigating about a given hypothesis. Thus, information, defined as "a means of communication" without being an end in itself, is an indispensable means to reinforce, guide and expedite any research process, and in many cases even to modify or totally change it. Information thus takes on an unusual importance in the development of nations, as it is the link that connects and makes available to the researcher or scholar, all that" the thought of Man produces and has produced through time and world geography. But there is a fact that seems to be at odds between research and information, in spite of their close link: the isolated work that researchers and information services or centers notoriously carry out. It seems illogical that nowadays, when there is the possibility of transmitting information by the most common to the most sophisticated means, when information reaches us through the traditional document. When the geographical barriers are overcome by satellite and international networks, supported by large databases, it is when we come up against the isolation of the writer from the producer and from the centers in charge of making this production known.
