This essay may be somewhat nihilistic in the opinion of management theorists and practitioners, so I must justify several of its extremes: I assume that management is not a science, in the positive sense of the word, but a praxis. It starts from an objective knowledge of reality, but refers to the procedure we apply to solve problems involving the achievement of objectives. I do not mention that it implies cooperative efforts, because social life entails the collective coordination of actions even when we seek purposes of individual character, since we do not live in a vacuum; as knowledge, necessarily subject to the rigorousness of the philosophical method, it is of a practical order, it belongs to the here and now, and to the reflection of man regarding his environment, his relations with that environment and the achievement of concrete goals. Regarding my position, I follow the illustrious Mexican master Leopoldo Zea, who proposes to do philosophy starting from our reality.
