The Costa Rican historian Rodrigo Quesada offers us in his book GLOBALIZATION and DEHUMANIZATION. TWO FACES OF ADVANCED CAPITALISM (Heredia, .EUNA, 1998. 240 PAGES) an interpretation of this phenomenon of that so much is spoken and written today. Globalization is a process that begins with capitalism, as it is its unavoidable consequence. "G/obalízar ...means to disintegrate national economies so that they are incorporated by the force of competition to a new kind of world market" (p.25). This globalizing process brings a despotism of the market about human beings. Paradoxically, globalization is not an integration but a "creation of poles of power in function of the unprecedented needs of capitalist expansionism" (p.26). The developing countries would become mere consumers in favor of the dominant poles: Nordic Europe, the United States and the countries of the Pacific
