Resumen
La pasantía fue realizada en Estados Unidos, en el área de Emergencia y Cuidado
Crítico, y Cirugía de tejidos blandos. Tuvo una duración total de nueve semanas, período
comprendido desde el 9 de abril al 15 de Junio de 2012. En total se atendió una casuística
de 102 pacientes.
Durante la estadía, la estudiante fue partícipe de la atención de 87 pacientes que
ingresaron al área de emergencia, además se pudo involucrar en la observación y asistencia
de 15 procedimientos quirúrgicos realizados en el área de cirugía de tejidos blandos.
El presente documento pretende describir las labores realizadas por la estudiante
durante la pasantía, así como reflejar las estadísticas más relevantes del total de casos
observados.
Para finalizar, se reporta detalladamente un caso clínico correspondiente a una
torsión / vólvulo mesentérico en un paciente canino de raza Pastor Alemán.
The externship held place in the United States, in the Emergency and Critical Care, and soft tissue Surgery areas. It lasted a total of nine weeks, period between April 9th and June 15th, 2012. A total of 102 patients were attended in the process. During this externship the student was a participant in the attention of 87 patients admitted to the emergency service. Also the student was involved in the observation and assistance of 15 surgical procedures made in the soft tissue surgery service. This document is intended to describe the activities performed by the student during the externship, and reflects the most relevant statistics referring to the observed case load. Finally, the detailed report of a clinical case is presented, referring to a mesenteric volvulus in a German Shepherd Dog
