Resumen
De unos años a esta parte ha crecido el interés de los estudiantes de nuestra escuela por
realizar estudios en el campo de la Historia de la Mentalidades. Ante la falta de una definición
clara de su objeto de estudio, la misma se ha convertido en una especie de cajón de sastre a
donde van a parar los retazos que no pueden ser ubicados en otros cajones y que no pueden ser
cosidos en ningún pantalón ni ningún vestido. Es por esto que en el caso concreto de nuestra
escuela, trabajos que deben ubicarse dentro del campo de la Historia Social, son incluídos
dentro de la Historia de la Mentalidades. En sus trabajos cada quien "pellizca" lo mental.
Al igual que en algunos países europeos la Historia de las Mentalidades se ha ido
convirtiendo en un campo tan amplio en el cual todo puede ser incluído.(1) En estos tiempos
donde las barreras entre las diferentes disciplinas de la ciencias sociales, así como entre estas y
otras ciencias humanas tienden a irse diluyendo; en la historia y casí sin quererlo se ha ido
construyendo una especie de campo panhistórico. Conciente o inconcientemente, aquí también
hemos recojido, las propuestas de Foucault,(2) de Ariès,(3) Le Goff,(4) Duby,(5) Vovelle,(6)
Thompson,(7) Ginzburg,(8) Chartier (9) y Leby (10) por solo citar a los mas cercanos, sin dejar
de lado en años anteriores a los Mandrou,(11) Baroja,(12) Febvre (13) y Bloch.(14) Y así hemos
ido agrandando el campo de una historia que apenas empieza en nuestro país a escindirse de
su matriz, la historia social. De ellos hemos tomado lo malo y lo bueno. Del que hoy estamos
totalmente separados es sin duda alguna de Ariès, los demás siguen pesando y gravitando en
nuestras mentes.
