Correlational study on the appropriation of university space and pro-environmental behaviors in the student population of the Omar Dengo Campus, National University. Thesis for a degree in Psychology, National University. The objective of this final graduation thesis was to understand the relationship between the variables of space appropriation and pro-environmental behaviors in a group of students from the Omar Dengo Campus of the National University, based on the hypothesis that they were positively correlated. The research was conducted from Environmental Psychology, which studies the reciprocal relationships between people's behavior and the sociophysical environment. The responses of 157 students to a questionnaire composed of two scales were analyzed: pro-environmental behaviors in the university context and appropriation of university space. In addition, analyses were performed to construct and adapt the scales, demonstrating their psychometric robustness in the sample studied. Based on the analysis of the Pearson coefficient, a positive and significant relationship was found between the two study variables. It was found that greater appropriation of university space leads to greater pro-environmental behavior in the university context. This provides input to address the premise of potential places for sustainability within university contexts, which are places characterized by student appropriation of space (attachment to place identity, sense of community, and participation). Furthermore, the research resulted in the construction of a scale to measure pro-environmental behavior within the university context with evidence of validity and reliability.
