Resumen
La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo realizar un diagnóstico sobre un aspecto de la formación formal de los educadores y educadoras de I y II ciclo: este fue el dominio de los contenidos matemáticos necesarios para el desempeño de su labor docente.
Esta investigación se desarrolló tomando como base dos etapas importantes dentro de la formación del docente de la carrera Educación para 1 y 11 ciclo:
- El desarrollo de contenidos matemáticos durante la etapa universitaria y
- El dominio de contenidos matemáticos por parte de los maestros en servicio.
Después de una exhaustiva revisión bibliografía, se optó por un tipo de investigación exploratoria y descriptiva con un enfoque cualitativo dominante. Mediante cuestionarios y entrevistas personales se realizó la recolección de los datos en cinco universidades costarricenses en donde se contó con la participación de 99 estudiantes de la carrera de Educación para 1 y II ciclo y ocho docentes universitarios formadores de maestros en el área de la matemática. Además, se recolectó parte de la información en escuelas estatales donde se contó con la ayuda de 43 maestros en servicio. Y se complementó la recolección de la información con la opinión de diez especialistas en el área de la enseñanza de la matemática, en particular con alguna relación con la enseñanza de la matemática en primaria. Toda la información se analizó mediante estrategias cualitativas y cuantitativas. Entre las estrategias cualitativas que se utilizó se encuentran las preguntas abiertas, entrevistas personales y triangulaciones. Las estrategias cuantitativas se basaron en estadísticas descriptivas usando el programa de cómputo SPSS.
The objective of this research was to make a diagnosis of an aspect of the formal training of educators in the 1st and 2nd cycles: this was the mastery of the mathematical content necessary for the performance of their teaching work. This research was developed based on two important stages within the teacher training of the Education career for 1st and 11th cycle: - The development of mathematical content during the university stage and - The mastery of mathematical content by teachers in service . After an exhaustive literature review, an exploratory and descriptive type of research with a dominant qualitative approach was chosen. Through questionnaires and personal interviews, the data was collected in five Costa Rican universities, with the participation of 99 students from the Education career for 1st and 2nd cycles and eight university professors who train teachers in the area of mathematics. In addition, part of the information was collected in state schools where they had the help of 43 teachers in service. And the collection of information was complemented with the opinion of ten specialists in the area of mathematics teaching, particularly with some relation to the teaching of mathematics in primary school. All information was analyzed using qualitative and quantitative strategies. Among the qualitative strategies used are open questions, personal interviews and triangulations. Quantitative strategies were based on descriptive statistics using the SPSS computer program.
