Rentabilidad del aprovechamiento maderable de los planes de manejo aprobados en el período 2010-2013 y su efecto en el costo de oportunidad de la tierra, para el Área de Conservación Arenal-Huetar Norte, Costa Rica

Abstract

Evalúa la rentabilidad del modelo actual de aprovechamiento maderable en bosque natural, dentro del Área de Conservación Arenal-Huetar Norte. A través de la construcción de tres escenarios típicos, se determinó la renta neta de la actividad, se identificaron factores limitantes, y se estimaron los costos de oportunidad por usos alternativos. Como población de estudio, se utilizaron 24 sitios con plan de manejo aprobado y ejecutado durante el 2010-2013; y para el levantamiento de información, se utilizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a diferentes actores, documentación de las unidades de manejo, bases de datos y cartografía del área de estudio.Evaluates the profitability of the current timber harvesting model in natural forest, within the Arenal-Huetar Norte Conservation Area. Through the construction of three typical scenarios, the net income of the activity was determined, limiting factors were identified, and the opportunity costs for alternative uses were estimated. As a study population, 24 sites with a management plan approved and executed during 2010-2013 were used; and for the information gathering, semi-structured interviews with different actors, documentation of the management units, databases and cartography of the study area were used.
