Within the National territory we find a protected wild area that presents an incomparable complex of natural resources and important cultural traits. In the "Braulio Carrillo" National Park, a wealth of national heritage, scientific research is carried out to understand and learn about the dynamics of the tropical rain forest (Days 1 to 1984). A protected area benefits society in many ways, for example, it provides opportunities for cultural development, scientific research, education, recreation and tourism (Cifuentes et al 2000), for which it is very important to plan and execute actions aimed at managing of the natural resources it protects. The management of a protected area contains a large number of interconnected elements that guarantee the long-term sustainability of natural, cultural and social resources. The interaction of these elements (legal, administrative, social, institutional, scientific, financial and planning, among others) requires a flexible and dynamic strategic planning that appropriately guides the management of the protected area (Cifuentes et al 2000). In this way, to ensure the management of the natural resources of the “Braulio Carrillo” National Park, actions must be guided through a strategic planning process. This strategic plan must provide the guidelines and directives that guide the management policy of the protected wild area in the coming years.
