This research consisted in analyzing the essays of the Estampas Section published in the newspaper Repertorio Americano. This section was written by Octavio Jiménez Alpízar, known under the pseudonym Juan del Camino, and was published from 1929 to 1953. The publications of the "Estampas" section of the Repertorio Americano were subjected to a documentary analysis process using thesauri, heading lists and the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules. After this process, an input sheet was created with the most relevant data according to the documentary analysis performed. These are decisive for the recovery of this information. The historical facts in the research are reflected in the "Estampas" section of the Repertorio Americano, since these were the means of expressing the social events that oppressed society in those years. Likewise, the American Repertoire is contextualized with the events that marked Costa Rica and humanity, such as the Industrial Revolution (1870-1914), the First (1914-1918) and Second World War (1939-1945), the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), among others. It can be highlighted that the documentary analysis of the Repertorio Americano for the description of the intellectual production, with a historical vision in the period 1929 to 1953, allowed that during the period of study between 1929 and 1953 a series of historical events, both at national and international level, that marked humanity, were determined, since within the Repertorio Americano a series of relevant essays are rescued, which were published in the section "Estampas" that show all the disturbances in the social fields and other aspects of daily life. After an in-depth study of the documentary contents of the Repertorio Americano, the "Estampas" section was chosen because these essays denounce the oppressive reality suffered by the people at that time; among its lines, the criticism of the management of the governments and rulers of industrialized countries such as the United States is described. Once the content analysis of each of these essays in the "Estampas" section, which totaled 396 essays, had been carried out, the most important elements of each of them were extracted and entered into a database created in EspaBiblio, which facilitated access and retrieval of the information. The physical description of the essays in the "Stamps" section was carried out using the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules for their standardization, since this is an important part of the librarian's work and the use of new technological tools makes the technical processes more agile and timely. With respect to the content analysis of the essays in the "Estampas" section published in the American Repertory, it was possible to determine their importance in different aspects such as the use of tools and instruments for the process of selection, cataloging and standardization of data, which allowed an effective analysis to be carried out. A mini site or web site was created with the analyzed and identified bibliotechological information of the essays published in the section, which guarantees the digital preservation of these valuable essays with free access for any user of the information who wishes to consult them, since through these studies the historical knowledge printed in the pages of the American Repertory is shared. For its part, we consider it important to recommend the continuation of the analysis of the Repertorio Americano, from a librarian's perspective. It is also important to disseminate the information compiled from the different research carried out by library science students on the Repertorio Americano, which has been stored for more than one hundred years at the Universidad Nacional. In addition, we seek to implement strategies with other universities, libraries and study centers to make known the different types of documents contained in the American Repertory and, in turn, we believe that the National University could make arrangements for public access, offer accessibility and promotion of this type of research using databases, websites or other technological tools to be known and used by all types of researchers and users of information.
