The present research analyzes the processes of sociocultural adaptation in health mental development based on the experiences and perceptions lived and felt by the sons and daughters of Chinese immigrants in Costa Rica. Along these lines, we started from a decolonial theoretical-methodological approach, which allowed us to recognize people and their identities immersed in the Costa Rican context and its power dynamics. Specifically, we worked from the theory decolonial and from an approach to the sociology of mental health with three women and three men Chinese-descendants between 20 and 23 years old; investigating the main dynamics of racialization and discrimination within their sociocultural “adaptations.” It was found that the social contexts, have marked a panorama regarding their experiences and ways of understanding the reality, violence and racist discourses present in the lives of the participating people.
