Novedades: Valor agregado en mieles de abejas nativas

Abstract

La resistencia a los antibióticos ha generado la búsqueda de nuevas alternativas para el tratamiento de quemaduras y heridas infectadas. Las labores conjuntas del Centro de Investigaciones Apícolas Tropicales (CINAT) de la Universidad Nacional, el Centro de Investigaciones en Enfermedades Tropicales (CIET) de la Universidad de Costa Rica, el Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery Program de la Universidad de Utrecht y el Medical Microbiology Program del Utrecht Medical Center (ambos de Holanda), permitieron el descubrimiento de nuevos valores agregados para las mieles de abejas sin aguijón de Costa Rica.

Antibiotic resistance has generated the search for new alternatives for the treatment of burns and infected wounds. The joint efforts of the Centro de Investigaciones Apícolas Tropicales (CINAT) of the Universidad Nacional, the Centro de Investigaciones en Enfermedades Tropicales (CIET) of the University of Costa Rica, the Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery Program of the University of Utrecht and the Medical Microbiology Program of the Utrecht Medical Center (both from Holland), allowed the discovery of new added values for the honeys of stingless bees of Costa Rica.
