The present document is the report of the data collected from a period between December 07th 2020 and February 16th, 2021, in the internship carried out in the Toucan Rescue Ranch, located in Heredia San Isidro, Costa Rica, which was focused on three main objectives: compiling different threats to local wildlife, arguing the relation between diagnostic approaches with therapeutical decisions, and establishing reference data regarding pharmacological treatments. The student participated in the taking of the history and clinical examination of 62 animals (31 birds, 30 mammals and a marsupial), which were referred mainly because they were found on the side of the road or in the case of mammals also by electrocution. The habitat fragmentation stands out as one of the main threats that local fauna must face, urban development in rural areas implies the construction of roads, buildings, and the installation of electrical infrastructure, which triggers events such as run over and electrocutions in wildlife animals. By showing different findings in routinely use diagnostic methods; 50 fecal flotation test, ten X-rays, nine blood tests and eight ultrasounds, portrays the importance on these techniques to aid the clinical examination and establish therapeutical decisions. In addition, by the compilation of 33 pharmacological treatments, establish reference information in respect of the commonly use pharmacological active principles to aid the therapeutical approaches in wildlife casualties. Arguing the main criteria to a responsible and appropriate pharmacological treatment.
